There is little that cheers the soul like colorful flowering bulbs. Spring-flowering bulbs such as daffodils, tulips, crocuses and hyacinths are best planted in late autumn/early winter, when days begin to cool and evening temperatures dip to between 40-50 degrees. In contrast, summer-flowering bulbs such as gladioli, calla lilies, dahlias, and crocosmias are best planted in the spring, after the frost-free date for your area.
The secret to success with all bulbs is to use Essential Plus when planting. When planting, follow the directions on your bulb package, paying special attention to the recommended planting depth and spacing. Mix capful (1 fl ounce) Essential per gallon of water and thoroughly water the bulbs after they are placed in their holes pointy end up, but BEFORE covering them with soil. The Essential will help your bulbs produce spectacular flowers by:
  • Stimulating root growth and helping the bulbs become well-rooted.
  • Providing high-quality natural plant nutrients to help grow the roots, stems, and flowers.
  • Conditioning the soil to let water and air penetrate.
"A house with daffodils in it is a house lit up, whether or no the sun be shining outside."
- A.A. Milne
